10 Ways To Post To Your Blog – Without Logging In
Often it can be a drag logging into your blog to create a post. Sometimes it’s just easier to use a blog editor or post by email or mobile phone then actually go to your site.
By using a blogging tool like a blog editor instead you can have the advantage of :
- being offline while blogging
- a better editor to use
- cross posting to multiple blogs
- able to keep a local backup of your post
The good news is that for windows, linux and apple users there is a blog editor out there that you can use. Many of the desktop blogging blog editors are free making it an added bonus.
Here’s some tools that you can use to post without visiting your site.
Blogjet has a free trial for 30 days. Some of it’s features are a WYSIWIG editor including spell check and an auto replace rule, able to insert images – resize, create thumbnails and upload, insert You Tube videos and Flickr, upload files to share, post to several blogs, able to create and edit posts and pages, create categories and tags. Phew ….that’s a lot of features!
Blogdesk this is a free software which also has a WYSIWIG editor, spell checker, tag generator and custom fields, it also allows you to insert images, give effects to image, resize and create thumbnails. While it doesn’t have all the features of Blog Jet it is free
Windows Live Writer this is possibly the most commonly used free desktop application for blogging. It features a WYSIWIG editor, photo and map publishing as well as a Writer SDK.
Zoundry Raven a free application that features WYSIWIG editing, set up for different media services like Image Shack, Picasa for different blogs, manage multiple blogs offline, post to pages as well as posts and create tags.
Rocket Post this is a paid software. It has a WYSIWIG editor, picture editing, spell checker, search tool, post scheduler, search and replace tool and other useful features as well.
WB Editor yes it has a WYWIG editor, it also allows you to post remotely, upload images, and has a great tabbed interface. It also allows you to view and manage comments and manage categories and themes.
MacJournal For Mac Users This is a paid software but it has been rebuilt to keep up to date with Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard. MacJournal lets you publish your work as a blog including recording video from your iSightto any of the popular blogging services, including your mobileme account. MacJournal is much more than a blogging editor but a full journaling system with blogging support. If I had a Mac I think I could fall in love with this
Blog Booster for iphone lovers This is true blogging on the go. While you write the text of the post BlogBooster is searching the web for related content including images, links and videos . You add them in a couple of taps and magically a complete media rich post is ready for you. As you expect from Apple everything is simple to use, drag and drop. With an application like this there really is no excuse not to write more posts.
BlogBooster also has spellcheck the ability to create links, attachments, and more.
Blog Press for iPad, iphone and iTouch
This little app has a WYSIWYG editor, easy to use photo uploader and thumbnail creator, You Tube video uploader and integration, allows you to update your twitter and facebook status when you update your blog, write multiple posts or send the same post to multiple platforms. In addition, you can tags, categories, private posts, save your drafts, manage multiple blogs, customize your signature for every post and, of course, so much more. I had an ipad, iphone or itouch this little app would be my new best friend
WP to Go – Android this application allows you to upload new post including title, content, tags and multiple categories with multiple wordpress accounts, you can also upload images from your phone and customize them, save local drafts and moderate comments.
Thingamablog this is a script you install on your server which allows you to maintain multiple blogs, update content, write entries offline (useful for those on dial up), publish to your blog or remotely via email. You can even use this as an rss reader as well.
Scribefire is a browser based add on for Firefox, Chrome and Safari users that allows you to blog while browsing the net. This is particularly useful if you like to blog about things you see in the blogosphere. Rather than saving it for later you can quickly write a blog post and publish it to your blog. One of the features that I really like is the use of templates. This means that say I want to promote a product for every blog post that I do on a topic I can set up a template that has the product information already there. Saves me time going to find it. When I make my blog post I can just select that template and like magic the information will appear.
