Is Your Web Host Killing Your Traffic?

If you set up a new wordpress blog in the last week or so you may be scratching your head wondering where your traffic is.

My webhost in the last week or so changed how the standard fantastico install of WordPress works.  To my knowledge, they didn’t advise users of any change (or else I didn’t get the memo!).  By the way, that’s my affiliate link  so if you buy hosting through my link I’ll … Read More

My Fave Way to Install WordPress

I’m often asked what I use to install WordPress.

The answer is pretty simple – it depends on the purpose. I try everything I can get my little hands on for some purposes.

The reason that I try everything is that I test a lot of plugins and themes (mainly my own products but for others as well).    Different plugins and themes can often react differently depending on the WordPress install.    So, if I’m testing … Read More

Are Your Permalinks Letting You Down?

I was setting up a site today that had a load of categories in it and it made me realise something ….that perhaps I haven’t shared in interviews or my books before (I honestly can’t remember!)

So, here’s … Read More

I have been very frustrated lately.

One thing that frustrates me is when I’m working on a project and it’s not going as fast as I would like it to do.

There are other things that frustrate me as well.

Today, my frustration has been with a plug-in.  I installed Tweetsuite a while back. One of the features that I like about it is that it automatically posts my new blog post to Twitter. What … Read More

Problems With Widgets Sticking In WP 2.8

The other day I was building a site and something strange  happened.  My widgets would not move – they would not drag or drop anywhere.   After scratching my head, changing my theme and deactivating plugins I found the problem.   In WordPress 2.8 there is a little problem with widgets (probably caused by some javascript) where they sometimes stick.

There is an easy fix which I tweeted about the other day

Affiliate Link Cloaker - Advanced Mode

WordPress Affiliate Link Cloaker Plugins – I don’t use them!

If you are an affiliate marketer then I don’t need to tell you  how important it is to cloak your affiliate links.   Nothing worse than doing a pile of work to find someone has hijacked your links and you are not getting paid.     The solution to link hijacking is link cloaking.

The WordPress community has created a ton of plugins for link cloaking.   If you are interested in a free wordpress link cloaker plugin then … Read More
